The project

The project is simple: to go around the world starting from Treillières and ending in Treillières by going from east to west without using a plane, and if possible without paying for transport. The itinerary is not defined precisely because it can be changed at any time and adapted to different situations. The idea is to start with Eastern Europe, through Turkey, and then to Asia. Descend to Southeast Asia, then to Australia and New Zealand to find a boat to reach America. Then, cross the countries of South America, then up to the Caribbean in order to find a boat to go to
Africa. This trip will be carried out with a backpack, minimum possessions and will have the main objective of meeting with the locals. For accommodation, the choice will be made day to day, avoiding hotels, campsites or rentals. The idea is to sleep outdoors or at the locals.

Itinerary from the trip

What Preparation?

Of course, going around the world requires a bit of preparation. However, this preparation will be mainly of an informative nature.

  • Of course, going around the world requires a bit of preparation. However, this preparation will be mainly of an informative nature.
  • Information work: on countries – potential hazards (human, natural), customs, visas; search for associations; places to see; vaccines; travel insurance; the climate. . .
  • Financial readiness: Setting aside money, thinking about your budget, CCEG Youth Initiative Scholarship
  • Preparing a website to share the journey with posts and photos (Gallery tab)
  • Material preparation: What things to bring, essentials, food. . .

The project of correspondence with the leisure center of Treillières:

This trip will be an opportunity to set up a correspondence project between the leisure centre of the Alexandre-Vincent school in Treillières and schools in different countries. The Treillières leisure centre will be entrusted with the task of starting the first chapter, and then the subsequent chapters will be written by the other children throughout the journey in their mother tongue. A class will have to write a chapter of history, while remaining consistent with the previous chapter. After writing, the children of Treillières will have to translate the texts into different languages, then pass them on to other schools so that they can have the beginning of the story in their original language and ensure the continuity of the project. The objectives of this project are multiple: to make children discover the world through a co-written story, to become aware of ecological issues and finally to learn a lot!

Why hitchhiking?

Ecological reason: Airplanes pollute.

  • Human Reason: To meet people from all backgrounds, from all social classes, from different
  • cultures, from different religions, in short, to meet people.
  • Reason for duration: To travel by stop means to travel more slowly, to take the time to stop, to
  • discover, without reservation constraints.
  • Economic reason: The stop is free 😉

The objectives of this trip:

I will undertake this journey with several objectives: to improve my ukulele practice, because yes, I will travel with my instrument; to meet and talk with local people; to visit local associations to understand the problems that people face and try to help as much as possible; to visit and intervene in schools if possible; to discover new cultures; to show that it is possible to travel in a different way; to raise awareness of current ecological issues; to open up to new ways of thinking.
